"The Blue Berets"
Ranger Type Programs
-- Past & Present --
By: SSgt Chris Yaroch I was thinking it would be cool to list some of the CAP ranger-type programs that exist / existed in CAP. Here's the list I have compiled. National: National HQ. - Pararescue Orientation Course, National Survival School, *National Blue Beret Regions: North Central Region - *North Central Region Special Service Corps (aka Blue Beret)** Wings: California - Cadet Survival Training School Florida - Everglades Ranger School, South Florida and Tallahassee # Iowa - *Iowa Wing Special Service Corps (aka Blue Beret) **, Iowa Wing Winter Rangers Maryland - Maryland Wing Ranger School Massachusetts - Massachusetts Wing Ranger School Michigan - Drummond Island Ranger School (aka 77th Ranger Support Unit) Minnesota - Rochester Composite Squadron Survival School, Swamp Rats(?) Missouri - Pathfinder Technical School New Mexico - Ranger School Pennsylvania - Pennsylvania Wing Rangers (aka Hawk Mountain, Airborne Rangers)** Puerto Rico - Fajardo Ranger School South Dakota - South Dakota Wing Rangers Washington - Challengers** Wisconsin - Keller Training Center Winter Survival Course Notes: *All programs listed are now the current National Blue Beret ** Programs were a part of the National Emergency Assistance Training (NEAT) Program # Program was started by the Pennsylvania Wing Rangers. ? Unsure if previously listed program used this as a nickname or if this was a separate program. We are certain that this program did exist at one time. "If anybody has any information on any of these programs or others we have not mentioned, please forward the name, specific information and pictures on this. Thank you!" SSgt Chris Yaroch |
